Number of female British passengers = 25% of total British passengers = 25/100 x 216 = 54
Number of male British passengers = 216 – 54 = 162

Passengers from South Africa  :
Total number of South African  passengers =2/5 of total passengers = 2/5 x 1200 =480
Number of male South African  passengers =1/2 of  South African  passengers= 240
Number of female South African  passengers =1/2 of  South African  passengers= 240

Total number of passengers from Madagascar = 6% of total passengers = 6/100 x 1200 = 72
Number of male Madagascar passengers = 72
Number of female Madagascar passengers = 0

Passengers from India :
Number of Indian passengers = 1200-(216+72+480) =432
Number of female Indian passengers =2/3 of total Indian passengers = 2/3 x 432 = 288
Number of male Indian passengers =432 – 288 =144

a)2:5:18        b)3:10:18  c)3:11:18  d)2:18:5   e)None
Explanation:
Number of females passengers from South Africa =240
Total number of passengers from India = 432
Required ratio = 72 : 240 : 432 = 3: 10 : 18

2. Number of male passengers from South Africa is approximately, what percentage of the total number of passengers from Britain?
a)111%         b)120%             c)130%    d)84%      e)15%
Explanation: Number of male passengers from South Africa =240
Total number of passengers from Britain =216
Required percentage = 240/216 x 100% = 111.11% = 111% approximately

3. What is the average number of male passengers from all the four countries?
a)154.5         b)164.5         c)145  d)164  e)None
Explanation: Average number of male passengers from all the four countries =(144+240+72+162)/4 = 618/4=154.5
4. What is the difference between the number of male passengers from Madagascar and the number of male passengers from India?
a)64    b)82             c)74    d)72    e)None
Explanation: Number of male passengers from Madagascar = 72
Number of male passengers from India = 144

Total number of male passengers from Britain and female passengers from India together = 162+288=450

Case let 18:
In a college, 150 students of MBA are enrolled. The ratio of boys to girls is 7: 8. There are three disciplines, namely Marketing, HR, and Finance in the college. In Marketing discipline, there are 50% girls of their total number and the boys are 40% of their total number.
In HR discipline, girls are 30% of their total number, while boys are 30% of their total number. Finance discipline has girls 20% of their total number, and the boys are 30% of their total number. 7 boys and 9 girls are in HR and Marketing both. 6 boys and 7 girls are in HR and Finance both, 5 boys and 8 girls are in Marketing and Finance both. 2 boys and 3 girls are enrolled in all three disciplines.

The ratio of boys to girls=7:8
Number of boys = 150 x 7/15 = 70
Number of girls = 150-70 = 80.

Marketing Department :
Number of girls = 50% of total girls= ½ x 80 = 40
Number of boys = 40% of total boys = 40/100 x 70 = 28

HR Discipline :
Number of girls = 30% of total girls = 30/100 x 80 = 24
Number of boys = 30% of total boys = 30/100 x 70 = 21

Finance Discipline :
Number of girls = 20% of total girls = 20/100 x 80 = 16
Number of boys = 20% of total boys = 20/100 x 70 = 14

HR and Marketing Both: Boys =7    Girls =9
HR and Finance both: Boys=6  girls=7
